Co-construire des villes durables en Afrique – Coffi Aholou

Keynote presentation by Coffi Aholou, Director of the Regional Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Cities in Africa (CERViDA-DOUNEDON), University of Lomé. Following a brief introduction by Olivier Dangles (IRD), Coffi Aholou takes the floor to speak about the synergies that can be developed between researchers, local communities and authorities, in order to carry out sustainable urban transformations. Using two concrete projects in Togo as examples, Coffi Aholou explains how the transdisciplinary process of co-construction challenges traditional science-society power dynamics. In these projects, the local communities hold the expertise, and and the role of researchers is to support them.
